Key issues
One of the key issues to be addressed by the Insitute is prevention of disease. Studies of children as young as 14 have shown worrying evidence of cardiovascular disease present in about 20% of those studied. The unique combination of expertise in vascular biology, cardiac disease, nutrition, epidemiology and basic laboratory science will allow early detection and intervention in disease processes from a very early age. The key issue is a major initiative which links the expertise found within all the groups.
Phase 1  Complete!
The successful completion of the £2.5m first phase of this funding  initiative ensures there is a designated area for clinically focussed patient research, the purchase of equipment and the employment of a Research Administrator.
Phase 2  Complete! Phase 2 raised funding for new laboratories where the basic science will be translated into improved treatments for patients;
And Currently...... So I am......
Fund raising continues with a variety of exciting events. Funds raised will be used for the ongoing purchase of equipment and consumables for use in our newly built premises. Funds will also be used to attract research staff crucial to future developments >>>>>>>>still appealing...
